Save the Anaheim Hills 4th of July

UPDATE - The Community is Responding!

$15,000 from Anaheim Sponsors has been raised to date, including the Disneyland Resort, Angels Baseball, Anaheim Ducks and others!  Thanks to these generous supporters and the hard work of Council Member Kris Murray, we are reducing the target we have left to raise to $25,000.  Thank you to all who have contributed – keep following the Anaheim Hills Community Council updates and share them with your Anaheim friends and family! #saveour4th #anaheimhills #anaheim #anaheimhillsfireworks #giftsofallsizes #everygiftcounts

Original Story:
Dear Friends and Community of the Anaheim Hills 4th of July Festivities:

On March 7th, 2017, the Anaheim City Council, on a 4-3 vote, terminated the existing Anaheim City Fireworks Program that provided critical, anchor funding for our traditional Independence Day activities. The Mayor and Majority Council took this action even though more constituents contacted the City Council to oppose this change than had ever contacted the City before on an issue. We want to thank Council Members Lucille Kring and Steve Faessel for supporting the previous model, and especially want to support Anaheim Hills own resident City Council Member, Kris Murray, for her steadfast and passionate support of the Anaheim Hills Fourth of July events.

As you know, “Safe & Sane” Fireworks are prohibited in Anaheim Hills due to fire safety issues, even after they were relegalized in the rest of Anaheim by voter approval in 2014. The sole vendor authorized to sell fireworks under the previous program had signed an agreement with the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and the Anaheim Hills Community Council that as long as the previous policy was in effect, they would provide a $40,000 sponsorship toward the Anaheim Hills activities. That policy is now terminated and so the $40,000 sponsorship has ended.

Without this funding, the 29th Annual Fourth of July Celebration is in jeopardy.

As many of you know, The Anaheim Hills Community Council is a non-profit organization created to assist in branding and building a strong community in Anaheim Hills. The Anaheim Hills 4th of July celebration creates connections and camaraderie between the thousands of residents and businesses who attend the day’s events every year.

The event starts with the annual Firecracker 5K/10K Run, and is followed by the pancake breakfast put on by the Anaheim Hills Rotary and Canyon Athletics program. The all-day event continues with the widely popular Yankee Doodle Dog Show, a parade down Santa Ana Canyon Rd, and finishing the day at Peralta Park where the community enjoys countless food vendors and expo booths of our local businesses and organizations and live musical performances.  All of this culminates to a spectacular fireworks show at Peralta Park.

With the community and over 100 non-profit organizations and charities benefiting from this event, WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP.

Any contribution, even $5, $10, or $25, helps. Imagine how quickly we could hit our goal if every Anaheim Hills family gave $25.

Please help preserve our community traditions and our community pride.
