The full story:

Last year Sandra  Olszewska  was a happy mum of two. She was expecting her third child and was about to get married to her now husband, Rafal Bialek. There were no signs whatsoever that their entire would be shattered soon. The couple got married in November and was joyfully expecting the arrival of their first son (Sandra has two children from a previous partnership).Suddenly, in December 2017, a small and painless lump appeared on her left leg.Soon, the lump started growing even more and became painful, so Sandra brought it to a CUH consultant’s attention during a routine 4.5-month pregnancy check-up.Her lump was examined and she was reassured it was a nerve tumour known as neurofibroma, so a benign and non-cancerous tumour that grow on nerves.Unfortunately, as the pregnancy progressed the tumour grew bigger and bigger causing excruciating pain in Sandra’s legs.More lumps soon appeared on the right leg too.Sometimes the pain was so bad that Sandra had to be hospitalised.Between December 2017 and March 2018 she was admitted to a hospital as many as 7 times! The doctors performed an ultrasound scan of the left leg to ensure there was no blood clots in there, and advised Sandra to take up to 2 paracetamol tablets every 4 hours to fight the pain. In February 2018, one CUH doctor examining Sandra made a comment about the large tumour and said she worried it may be something more serious than neurofibroma. She advised the doctor supervising Sandra’s case to investigate it further. However, this request was ignored and Sandra was told the tumour will be dealt with once her son is born, as they cannot do much now, while she is pregnant. On 23 March 2018 Sandra gave birth to her youngest son, Tobiasz. After Easter a biopsy was performed to determine if the fast growing tumour on Sandra’s leg was indeed a neurofibroma. On the 24 April, just a month after giving a birth, Sandra was told her tumour was a malignant high grade soft tissue sarcoma. At that stage the tumour was growing approx.1-2 cm a week and already reached 50 cm.Shock, disbelief, fear ... the family was heartbroken. The doctors from CUH decided to carry our PET test to find out if the cancer has already spread to other organs or limbs.Thankfully, despite the cancer being malignant it was growing locally on the legs and it did not spread yet. However, Sandra was told that due to the size of the tumour her left leg will have to be amputated. Current situation: CUH is currently awaiting a second opinion on Sandra’s case from a specialist based in the UK.In the meantime, her left leg bone broke due to the enormous pressure from the sarcoma tumour, and she is being hospitalised in the CUH.Her three children are being looked after by friends, as Rafal Bialek is with his wife most of the time. Her insurance claim is being investigated and the insurance company does everything it possibly can to delay the process and ultimately do not pay anything to Sandra’s family. No money has been released to date and the insurer does not want to cooperate with Bialek family. This campaign has a goal of €15,000 that will be spend on helping a medical aftercare and supplements for Sandra, once her leg will be amputated. Please support Bialek family in this stressful time!

Powiedziała to lekarzowi nadzorującemu sprawę Sandry i poprosiła go aby to obejrzał i coś zrobił. Rafal caly swoj czas dzieli pomiedzy prace, dzieci i opieke nad Sandra.Pomagaja im rowniez przyjaciele i babcia.
