Save our puppy, little Miss Olive

Miss Olive has had one hard knock after another in her short 6 months of life.  As a newborn she was abandoned on the side of the road with her three siblings.  Fortunately they were discovered and taken in by a local rescue.  That's where we found her and it was instant love.  See we lost our Maple Dog after 14.5 years of love earlier this year.   Olive  instantly filled the hole in hearts.   But soon after we adopted her she got sick.  Not eating, diarrhea, not playing.   Miss Olive had a raging parasite infection in her gut.  A month of medications and lots of TLC and she was back to her fun loving self!  Olive loves life.  She bounces like a deer when she runs! She is plays non-stop with her big brother, Gumdrop.  She loves exploring and sticks twice her size!  She may be little, at 8 lbs, but she is fierce and holds her own.  But there is also a gentleness about her, greeting everyone she meets with cuddles and kisses.  At night she likes nothing better but to lay by your side.   Until this week that is when once again, life is trying to knock her down.  Olive stopped eating, began to not control her pee, and began unusual behaviors (only running along walls until she could twitch in a corner; not moving when we put her down for up to 10 min before finally sitting).    After $400 in tests and fluids, the vet believes she has a Portalstenosis Shunt.  This is a fancy term for saying the liver didnt start working properly after birth.  This can happen in Yorkie Terriers and Shi Tzus of which we think she is mixed).  Toxins are starting to build up in her body and her brain which is why she began to act wierd.   The treatment is an ultrasound ($400-500) and surgery ($5800 assuming no complications). It is a very delicate surgery and must be done in the next few weeks.  We are now managing her symptoms with a special diet but without this lifesaving surgery, the average life expectancy is 10 months from the onset of symptoms.  With the surgery, she is expected to lead a full and long lifespan.   Everyone is telling us to put her down, she is just a dog.  But to us she is family; a baby in the family with an entire life ahead of her.   And after loosing our Maple this year, loosing another would destroy us all, especially my 12 yo daughter and 8 yo son.   Will you please help us, and pray for, save Miss Olive?
