Save Ivan's Cello

Ivan is from a small town in Colombia, he had a difficult time growing up, but his circumstances changed when he was 18 and a youth orchestra was set up in his town. He learned to play the cello and supported himself teaching music. He played in two orchestras but they were closed after government cuts in funding. Recently he has been working with his teacher to set up a new youth orchestra in a different part of the country, where he has been volunteering and teaching other young people, hopefully making a difference to their lives as well. Unfortunately, while travelling home for Christmas his cello was damaged, and he will be unable to continue teaching until it is repaired.

The cost to fix his cello and get him back to working with the orchestra will be $1,700,000 Colombian Pesos (around £450). Working in his home town, it is likely he will have to spend months away from the orchestra to earn enough money to fix his cello. Any money we can raise would be a great help to get Ivan playing and teaching again.
