Catherine Perry and A House Of Open Arms need our help.
For those who have met Catherine, it is no secret that her home on St John is her heart, her livelihood, and her retirement. She built A House of Open Arms with the intention to share this slice of paradise with others.
On Wednesday September 6th, Hurricane Irma made landfall on St John, with the center of the storm passing very close to the island. Communication and infrastructure have been severely compromised in Coral Bay. The damage to A House Of Open Arms (HOA) has not yet been broadcast, though it is certain that Irma’s aftermath will have lasting effects on HOAs’ financial stability.
The house is beautiful, yes, but the Villa and Cottage at HOA are much more than wonderful places to stay when visiting St John; they are an experience of care and love. Catherine has put her soul into this home...for her guests. After her divorce, she was inspired to create a space for couples to rest, rejuvenate, and rekindle their romance; and, she wanted to make it financially possible for people of modest means to have a five-star experience. She herself lives modestly in order for others to afford luxury. Her deep care for others and generosity is matched only by her deep faith and sense of purpose.
If Catherine has blessed you; if you feel that Catherine created a haven for you; if A House Of Open Arms has helped you...Catherine needs your help now, and she might not feel comfortable asking for it.
Catherine is a strong woman, fully capable of taking on the upcoming challenges, and will do so with her integral creative spirit. That said, HOA will likely not be receiving guests in the same way for several months, which represents an enormous loss of income for Catherine. Regardless of Irma’s direct damage to HOA, it is certain that it’s impact has already greatly affected Catherine’s ability to operate her business, pay her mortgage, and share her House of Open Arms with others.

My name is Geoff Fosbrook. My partner Alison White and I are friends with Catherine and her family. We have been to St John many times and stayed with Catherine at both The Villa and The Cottage. Catherine helped build the property herself and with our help it can be restored.
