Save Eva from life in a cage in a Romanian shelter

Donation protected

Eva is a very sweet little dog, full of love and affection even though she's living in very basic conditions in Suceava Public Shelter in Romania. There are usually over 450 dogs in the shelter, and if numbers do not go over 500 they will not be killed - but they have more than 500 dogs right now, and if dogs aren't rehomed soon they will have to make space in the shelter again for the new dogs that just keep coming.

The dogs at Suceava PS receive food and water, but very little else, including human contact, comfort and shelter from the elements. Eva shares a small pen with multiple other dogs, and despite all of the hardship, she is wonderfully friendly with dogs and with people, although she is just a little shy with strangers.

With winter coming conditions in the Public Shelter in Suceava are about to get incredibly difficult for the dogs. There are no comfortable warm beds there, just a choice between a bare wooden kennel or a concrete or muddy floor to sleep on. There's precious little protection from the elements, only a corrugated roof to keep the worst of the rain and snow from falling on the dogs, and if they're lucky, a sheet of plywood on the side of the cage where the wind blows in.

Many dogs don't survive.

Sweet Eva is only around a year old, barely more than a puppy.  She has her whole life ahead of her, but if we don't stand up to help her now she may well spend her whole life behind bars in Suceava - never knowing the comfort and love that could be hers if she were adopted by a family in the UK.

We can't let that happen to Eva - she deserves a chance at happiness, love and comfort in her own home with her own family.

And she can have it - if we all help her...

...the very wonderful Kymm White of South East Dog Rescue has offered Eva a rescue space in her kennels, or with a foster family, until she can find Eva a perfect new family of her very own. Eva can travel to the UK on the next 'freedom bus' if we can raise the money in time before it leaves Romania on the 12th December.

A volunteer at the Shelter says that Eva is sweet and adorable, a proper candy girl despite her terrible start in life, living on the streets.  If anybody deserves a happy ending at this time of year, Eva does.

So this Christmas, maybe instead of sending Christmas cards, please think about making a real difference and donating a little to help get Eva to safety.

Between us, we can change her life.
