Save Dean the Cat

A few weeks ago, my 3 year old cat, Dean, started to limp. He seemed fine--his appetite didn't change, he wasn't crying. It looked like just a sprain.
Yesterday all the progress he made went away, so I took him to the vet.
Today I learned there is a good chance he has cancer. It's uncommon in a cat as young as Dean, but the vet is concerned this might be the case.
What we do know:
Something in his left front leg is very wrong. About half the volume of his radius (bone) is missing where it connects to his wrist. It's possible there is some kind of infection at play, though he doesn't have a fever. The only way to know is a lot of expensive tests I can't afford.
Just today, with antibiotics (in the hope it's a localized infection that can be treated that way) and a splint, I'm going to be paying about $450. In two weeks we'll have a follow-up visit with another X-ray that will cost about the same. At that time, if there isn't improvement (or if there is decline in between) I will have some hard choices to make about tests and treatments.
Together, that's $900 at a minimum. There are other costs like biopsies and if it turns out to be cancer, the costs would skyrocket. As much as it hurts me, I have to assume the worst, so the $1,200 goal of this campaign is a minimum.
It's hard to hold back tears right now. I've lost two cats in four years from illness, and Dean is my constant companion. He's with me every day, sits in my lap while I work, snuggles with me at night. He and Sam are what keep me sane, and I want to do everything I can to save them.
So please: help me raise this money and if the worst case scenario turns out to be true, everything I'll need past that to save his life. It might sound silly to some people, but Sam and Dean are family to me. I want to do everything I can to keep them alive and healthy.
