Save Brownhelm's Cemeteries!
Brownhelm Township, in north-central Ohio, was one of the first to be settled in the Connecticut Western Reserve. Pioneers trecked out here at the beginning of the 19th century to start building a life for themselves and their families. The cemeteries of this area hold the graves of these early pioneers. Many descendents of these settlers have died out or moved far away. The stones have fallen into severe disrepair as it is the responsibility of the decedents' families to care for them.
The Brownhelm Historical Association has taken upon itself a mission to restore these grave markers and cemeteries as fully as possible. We believe that it is our duty to preserve the history of our region where and when we are able. The money from this campaign will go straight into the cemetery preservation fund to help restore grave markers, rebuild fencing, repair signage, and more. This will be an ongoing project which will take years to complete. This initial start up fund will assist us in purchasing the necessary supplies and training to complete the project.
