Save Baker Dude Bakery Cafe!

Hi Everyone! I'm Orran Booher, The Baker Dude. Almost 4 years ago, I decided to to leave Corporate America to pursue my passion for baking. With my husband Dave and twin baby boys in tow, I started Baker Dude from my home kitchen and on the very same counter from which I'm writing you now, I produced the very best cupcakes Atlanta has ever seen! As my slogan says, they were "More Than Just Frosting!" 

Since then, I've been to Farmer's Markets and eventually leasing retail spaces in food courts downtown. Due to a great response to my product, my husband and I decided to take the leap and secure space in an up and coming development, The Beacon Atlanta, where we could expand our menu to offer more baked products and everyday foods to include breakfast, lunch, dinner and now really amazing Artisan Pizzas! We couldn't have done this alone and with the help of our multi-talented diverse team, we made Baker Dude Bakery Cafe what it is today. We love what we do and customers walking thru the door can sense that! As an LGBT, Minority and US Veteran business, everyone feels at home here. We even donate to local charities and organizations because it's necessary to be good stewards of our community.

But we need your help urgently! Due to unexpected high startup expenses, low foot traffic to our store and the challenges in locating us, we've been struggling each month since opening. We've had to reduce staff tremendously and get our operations as lean as possible. We've even taken out additional loans and all the equity from our home to be able to provide Grant Park and Atlanta the best we can. This summer in particular has been brutal for us and with families out of town our Sales took a nose dive. We've now exhausted our cash flow and unable to get additional funding.  So here we are, asking for your help 

By giving you will help us, first and foremost, to stabilize our cash flow and to help us provide for our hardworking staff so that we can keep producing delicious, high quality and fresh food! We will be able to pay off and/or consolidate existing loans along with my family not losing our home. We will finally be able to have a budget to market to new customers and increase sales and awareness. By giving, we would be able to get through this period and be ready for the 150 townhome development next to our property opening in a few months along with the Atlanta Beltline! We will also be able to continue to have a space where local artists/performers can showcase their talent and share their artistry with the community. And lastly, we can continue to provide to local charities like Covenant House Georgia that helps homeless and trafficked youth, The Nicholas House for Homeless Families and other organizations. Your support would mean so much to me, my family and my staff. We've poured ourselves into creating this amazing Neighborhood Bakery & Eatery, so please help us that our efforts would not be in vain. We refuse to be a statistic! We want to be here and become an Atlanta Institution in this city we love.
