SAVE BABY MIA - FIGHTING CANCER

On Thursday 21/06/2018, Nicole and Ben’s worst nightmare as parents, became a reality.
Nicole took her baby, Mia for a checkup at the Doctors as Mia’s stomach became progressively bloated very quickly.
On a Friday 22/06/2018 they found out that their baby girl has a 10cm tumour, called “Adrenal cortical carcinoma”. This is an aggressive form of cancer.
This tumour is located in the adrenal cortex, which is near her kidneys.
Unfortunately as the tumour is 10cm wide, you can only imagine how dangerous it is to surgically remove it on a 1 year old, this would put baby Mia in extreme danger with her tiny little body.
They now have to face the heartbreaking journey of 6 months of chemotherapy for their little girl in Brisbane children’s hospital, before they can hopefully surgically remove the tumour for good.
Mia is now in ICU due to breathing difficulties as she has suspected blood clotting on her lungs, ultimately making it impossible to breathe properly on her own.
This fundraiser has been set up to support baby Mia and her family during this heartbreaking journey.
Every cent will help Mia and her family at this difficult time while they have to stay in Brisbane for her ongoing treatment.
Cancer is something that no child or parent should have to face and I know baby Mia will put up a fight against this horrible disease.

My name is Krystal Warren and I am the person that has started the fundraiser for baby Mia on gofundme.com.
I live in the Whitsundays, QLD, Australia.
I have been friends with Nicole (Mia's mum) for 10 years, we became friends when we first met in high school.
I also have a little 1 year old girl, Briella who is 2 weeks younger than Mia, this means Nicole and I shared our pregnancy and new motherhood journey together. Baby Briella considers baby Mia her best friend!
The funds that are raised will be spent on keeping the family together during this long journey as Ben only has a limited amount of paid leave.
They have already been required to buy clothes as they arrived in Brisbane with the clothes on their backs.
They also have to cover the day-to-day living expenses of both living away from home while Mia is in hospital and then the upkeep of their own actual house situated 1000km away from where they are now.
While Mia is receiving chemotherapy she will be too fragile to fly home between her treatments as her immune system will be weakened. This means Ben and Nicole will have to find creative ways to entertain her with the room that they have in the hospital, where they are staying and around some areas of Brisbane (obviously they are limited on where they feel is safe to take Mia while her immune system is down). Money donated can certainly help with this.
Money donated will also be used for travel of family members to come and support Ben, Nicole and baby Mia in this long and emotional journey that has been so suddenly thrown at them.
The funds raised will be deposited into Mia’s direct bank account which can be accessed by Ben and Nicole to cover any expenses which have been incurred due to Mia’s current medical state.
