Saskatoon Cares!

We are an emerging Saskatoon non-profit called Saskatoon Cares. Our Vision is to provide access to sterile needles and other harm reduction resources for injection drug users so that people living with drug addictions can eliminate the spread of diseases like HIV or hepatitis.

Our Mission is to use foot patrols to deliver harm reduction supplies to drug users during off hours or when other services are not available, We want to treat drug users with respect and compassion to address the stigma of drug addiction and encourage the safest possible use.

We think everyone will benefit from this by reducing the spread of disease, both drug users and the community as a whole. This service helps to reduce health costs, lowering the burden on taxpayers.

Funds will be used to create an easy to identify "uniform" for our foot patrols so that our volunteers can be readily identified in the community. We also need to obtain cell phone service so that the team can communicate and to buy some needed safety supplies that are not available from the health authority.

Our non-profit collaborates with the Saskatoon Health Authority, AIDS Saskatoon, and other supporters to provide these volunteer services. In future we hope to receive funding to make this service more sustainable.

Your assistance, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated! Injection drug use is a reality. Let's do what we can to reduce the harm.
