Portrait photographer Sarah Dunn has given the world thousands of iconic images of some of the world's best-known actors. Now, after a severe traffic accident, Sarah needs our help to get the care she'll need to heal and resume her life's work.

Sarah was struck by a speeding car on the afternoon of April 3rd 2018 as she crossed a street near her home in Los Angeles. While the impact spared most of her major organs, she suffered serious brain trauma called Diffuse Axonal Injury. It will likely take years to heal. We don't yet know what specific challenges she may face in coordination, perception, balance, and other aspects of brain function. However, it is clear is that she faces a long, difficult fight and will need extensive specialized care to recover fully and return to making art.

From a young age, Sarah has lived to make portraits. By now, millions have seen unforgettable images and witnessed her genius with the medium of light. At the same time, Sarah's personal kindness and generosity have illuminated and enriched the lives of her family, friends, and many co-workers. Every day they saw her unassuming and loving personality, how she always thought of them first, made sure they were cared for and had what they needed. She never asked anything for herself.

Please make a generous contribution via GoFundMe to ensure that Sarah recovers as quickly and completely as possible. Her family and friends need her back, and although she can't say so herself, her deepest desire is to get back to them and back to making portraits.

Dear friends and Supporters of Sarah,
It has been six months now since Sarah's accident which has indeed been the darkest chapter of our lives. However, the progress Sarah has made has been remarkable and I cannot thank everyone enough for their generous gifts and help, without it we would not be this far ahead in the recovery. We still have a little way to go, but the worst is behind us now and its full steam ahead for the approaching New Year.
We have almost reached our financial goal which is incredible and with this in mind I make my final update.
I always said that when we made it to the beach, that we would be almost there, and thanks to everyone, we almost are.

Dear Friends,
Although the healing process is slow I cannot believe it has been more than five months since Sarah's accident.
Her determination continues as she sets her sights on making a full recovery. It is hard to say when this will be as some things return quicker than others. Sarah's eyesight is improving but the therapy is intensive and often upsetting and frustrating for her. She will not rely on auto-focus when using her camera, that's just the way she is.
Sarah's right side is still problematic, but with the help of daily physical therapy we will get through this. We have also introduced a treadmill to help strengthen her legs and improve her walking abilities.
Help is still needed in this ongoing recovery, but I can finally see Sarah becoming herself..
Thank you again,
Marcus

Dear Friends,
For the first time in almost five months I am starting to see Sarah I fell in love with all those years ago. Sarah is now able to move around the house and beginning to get back some of her independence. We still have a way to go, but it’s getting easier. The last month has been tough for the simple reason that the more Sarah improves the more self aware and hard on herself she becomes. I have never seen such determination despite her condition. Your gifts have made sure she is getting all the right help where needed and now five months on Sarah is aware of how much help she has received.
The hard work continues but there is an end in sight. Please continue to help her get there.
My thanks again,
Marcus
A day out.

Dear friends,
It is now 4 months since Sarah's accident and she has made excellent progress all things considered. Her walking and overall strength is improving, but she still needs assistance. Sarah's right side is still effected from her jaw down to her foot, but she is pushing through and doing well with her physical therapy which is most beneficial.
Sarah's intensive eye therapy continues and we will hopefully soon see the eyes improving.
It is still very frustrating for Sarah who is determined to get back to her camera as soon as possible. Her memory is rapidly returning but brings with it more apprehension and worry for her.
With your help we can continue get through this ordeal. Every day is a gift and Sarah has been overwhelmed by the amount of support shown here.
My thanks to you all.
Marcus
