Santa's Senior Surprise

Hi, my name is Caitlyn Waddell and I am currently a junior in a BSN nursing program. I graduated high school as a Certified nursing assistant and I have personally witnessed senior citizens go without frequent visitors year-round and the holidays can be a particularly lonely time for them. A group of friends and I came together three years ago to provide small gifts to each of the residents of the nursing home where we did clinical rotation. To see their faces light up at such a small token was indescribable. The goal of Santa’s Senior Surprise is to continue this tradition and give back a little where we can and to bring a little bit of joy to what could otherwise be a lonely time for so many. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of seniors living in our local residential homes during the holidays.

I have been in the process of trying to make Santa's Senior Surprise an officially registered non-profit. I am going to be registering with the Secretary of State, as well as with the Attorney General's office. Once this process is done, we will be registered as an official non-profit and be able to receive cash donations for anyone who would prefer to donate monetarily rather than physical items. This is where I am calling on the community for help. There are processing fees associated with becoming an officially recognized organization. If anyone is interested in making a small donation to help us reach our goal of $180.00, which is the cost of registration fees, we would be forever grateful! We are already gearing up for another exciting year and look forward to making a difference in the lives of even more local area senior citizens this upcoming holiday season!
