Dear Skating Friends,
As we are sure everyone knows by now, Santa Rosa and the greater Sonoma County area have been devastated this week by the numerous wildfires that have torn through our community and continue to rage on with a vengeance that appears to know no bounds. Several members of the Santa Rosa figure skating community have lost their homes and basically (and in some cases quite literally) everything they own. The fire came within a mere couple of blocks of Snoopy's Home Ice, and we are all beyond grateful that our beautiful skating home has been spared.
Recovery for our affected members and our beautiful City/County will be a long road, but we are determined to rally around each other and do everything we can to help those hit the hardest. Perhaps the signs popping up in Sonoma say it best, "THE LOVE IN THE AIR IS THICKER THAN THE SMOKE". It is in that spirit that we reach out to you, our skating family. We are organizing this fundraiser to help the members of the Santa Rosa figure skating community who have been most affected by this tragedy. Those who have lost not only their skates and gear, but just about everything they own. Please give whatever you can - no amount is too small (or too large). The total of all the funds collected will be distributed among our club members who have lost their homes/livelihoods. We are hoping to be able to replace lost skates, bags and other skating related gear and to offer any other financial support we can with the money collected.
This fundraising effort is led by individuals and is in no way affiliated with any specific organization. We are organizing this as a way to help our skating community members who have suffered such a great loss. All funds collected will go to the members of our skating family affected by the fires.
