Santa is real, and you're him.

I know Santa Claus is real.  Sounds crazy, right?

But you know what he looks like don't you?  You know where he lives, you know his employees, you even know his method of transportation.  Terry Pratchett pointed this out in the Hogfather, and something more important as well.  That Santa Claus is one of the little lies that helps kids learn the big ones, like truth and justice and mercy.  The important lies that make us into what we are - the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape.  For it is humanity that brings those things into existence by what it believes.

So, ahem, I BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS.  I believe he may be the product of the conglomeration of the deep and abiding capacity for universal and familial love in all of us.  But I believe he is real.  Every dad dressing as Santa, well, he becomes Santa.  It isn't like other costumes, is it? So I believe in him, and you.  And this is my Christmas wish - and I've been pretty good this year;

I want to make sure this beautiful family still gets to have Christmas after losing their father to cancer.

The littler ones don't know dad's gone, and this may be their last happy holiday for a long time. The older ones and mom, well - it's not the things that I want for them. It's the out pouring of love and support, the temporary freedom from financial worry while adusting to the loss of a father's income and and the knowledge that americans have each other's backs, no matter what anyone says.

The money will go for toys and food and clothing and bills.  The money will contain a powerful message of love, not just in this instance, but to anyone who hears of your tremendous generosity.   This is our chance to all be Santa together.  Maybe we could do this for one family every year in honor of our friend Eric.  Maybe we could do it just because it's this much fun being Santa.  Maybe we could do it just because, why shouldn't we?

Love is the most powerful thing in the universe.  Santa is one of its purest expressions. Please come and be Santa with me.

We give this gift of love, hope and renewal  in memory of Eric Vernon Thompson , on behalf of his partner, Jovan and their children, Marques 13, Eric 10, Erika 8, Mekhi 4, and the twins, Aloni and Aniyah, both 2.

Our deadline is ASAP, in time for Christmas.

Thank you for your precious time and attention.  If you cannot donate, please help spread the word to those who can.  Every dollar, every share,  will make a difference for this beautiful family, and it will fire the flame of faith in human kind deeply in our hearts.
