Journey towards healing

Donation protected
As many of you know, I started a non-profit called SanghWE: Collective for Women's Empowerment to provide emotional healing and recovery for women who have experienced sexual abuse and living in countries with insufficient access to psychological counseling.

As a survivor who immigrated to the US, I have been fortunate to receive extensive counseling.  The healing and empowerment I experienced as a result has helped me not just survive but thrive.  SanghWE is an expression of my heart-felt desire to bring healing through therapy and counseling to survivors of sexual abuse.  SanghWE is my way of telling survivors that they are not alone. that they have a community of trusted individuals who care about them and their recovery.

I have designed SanghWE's solution model as a community-supported self-driven care that survivors can have access to. For more details visit my website at http://sanghwe.com

This is an ambitious project that will require me to test out its various components before I can bring the   completed solution to women in developing nations. So, I am beginning with one of the components of my Solution Model, Level 1 Service and testing it with South Asian women in the US who are currently in need of such a service. Through this pilot I intend to gather data to evaluate whether  online, self-driven psycho-social care that is culturally and linguistically relevant is an effective means of empowering survivors to cope with their trauma and feel inspired to seek deeper levels of healing.

This will be the very first pilot of my initiative and will be conducted in partnership with Saheli, a local  organization in the Boston area that helps South Asian women survivors of domestic  violence.

As part of Level 1 Service, SanghWE will build Khan Academy-style videos that Saheli's audience can access anonymously and online using any device.  They will have access to two types of videos:
           a) Educational videos that help them learn about the impact of trauma as it manifests in every day life (flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia, pain, etc)
           b) Videos where they learn strategies to  positively cope with these symptoms and protect their relationships at home and outside.

Survivors will complete Pre- and Post- assessment surveys that will help SanghWE meaure the effectiveness of this approach.

The money you donate will go towards operational costs associated with  Phase 1 of this Pilot which involves the following:
        a) Researching evidence-based and clinically proven trauma healing strategies,
        b)  Applying culturally relevant context to these strategies
        c) Creating a curriculum sequence using th materials
        d) Translating the materials into Hindi and/or Bengali (depending on the demographics being served).
        e) Building pre and post assessment surveys

Phase 1 is expected to run from July - October 2016

*** Please note SanghWE's incorporation as a non-profilt is pending. I will post an update as soon as we are granted this status.

Thank you in advance for your support.  I have been working on SanghWE for the past one year. And I feel it is now time for like-minded individuals like yourselves to be a part of this social change initiative.  Making a financial donation is one way. However, if you are unable to offer monetary contribution at this time, there are other ways you can play a role. Please contact me for details.
