Life has just hit the Klugs hard. Sandy and Scott thought they were finally getting their feet underneath them. Cancer was being treated, debt was slowly being paid down, they had an apartment, and Scott had lots of good wood to sell for his business. Then one after another, like dominoes, things fell apart: the transmission went out in Scott's truck (that he uses to haul wood), their landlord came around with an eviction notice (for just after Christmas), and the new manager at the restaurant where Sandy has been selling her jams and pickled goods decided not to sell them anymore.
The weight of everything happening at once has become a crushing burden for Sandy. She wonders: Where will they live? How will they make any ends meet without the truck to run Scott's business and without her restaurant account? After two previous bouts with cancer (one for Scott & one for Sandy) and Sandy's current fight with cancer, financial reserves have long since been depleted.
