Sam's Journey

If you are looking for something you can do to GIVE to those in need this Holiday Season PLEASE pray & or support this family! Baby Sam, is now Lil' Sam & he is a little miracle!

He has had a very difficult journey since birth. His parents have been overwhelmed mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually & financially.
Sam's parents have been fighting the good fight for a long time... but they need our help as it is time to take lil' Sam to Boston for additional treatment & surgeries. Below is Sam's mother's message (Stepanie) on Facebook to her friends. Well, my wife & I wanted to show her how BiG our GOD is!!!! Whether you can give $1, $5, 500 or $5000 please help this family! They have NEVER asked for more then prayers through their 4 year journey with Baby Sam. Their close friends & family have stepped up to get them this far but it's time for God's Army to come together for this little boy! I humbly ask you to read & send this to your family & friends as you come together over the Holidays! Please read her message below & God Bless!

>>>>>>>Pray for Sam<<<<<<<<

As most of you know, we went to Boston in October for Sam to be evaluated. While we were there it was discovered that his stomach had been pulled up too far in order for them to connect the two ends of his esophagus. The doctors said that they have seen this a lot and this is one of the reasons why Sam’s reflux is so bad.

In order to determine the exact surgery that needs to be done, they needed some biopsies of the esophagus so they could tell where the stomach tissue ends and the esophagus tissue begins. They took biopsies while we were there, and told us we should know the results within a week or two. The plan was to schedule surgery after we found out the results of the biopsies. They said it would probably be soon after the first of the year and we should be prepared for a 2-3 month Hospital stay.

When they called us about the biopsies, it wasn’t really what we expected to hear. The doctor said that his esophagus was so inflamed (probably due to reflux) that they were unable to tell anything from the biopsies. They wanted to up the dose of the reflux medicine he is currently taking and also add another one for him to take right before bedtime. They wanted him to do this for about 6 weeks and then come back for more biopsies. We really were not expecting to have to go back up there before the surgery.

As stated before... we went in October, but they were unable to determine anything from those biopsies because his esophagus was so inflamed. They said it looked a lot better this time, so hopefully they will be able to determine something after looking at these biopsies. We should hear something from them sometime before Christmas. When they call us, they should be able to tell us the exact surgery they want to do for Sam as well as a date. We are thinking it will probably take place sometime at the beginning of February, but we don’t know for sure.
