Sam Smithson-Gynell's Fork U Cancer

Donation protected
This is our beautiful Sister, Friend and Mother Sam aged 46 with her two boys Levi (11) and Jye (6).

On the 1st June 2018 Sam was given the worst news possible - she had cancer and it was terminal.

After feeling tired and unwell Sam went to her doctor and was sent to have a routine pap smear followed by other tests.  It was during a specialist appointment that she was told they had found a tumour in her cervix and it was terminal - they gave her 12 months to live.
Sam quickly responded with her positive attitude and determination to fight her cancer and not accept the timeline she was given.

Sam started radiotherapy immediately followed by chemotherapy and has also experimented with natural remedies too including the use of CBD oil.
After six months of treatment she received the news that her tumour had shrunk beyond expectations and the cancer that had spread could no longer be detected.  This was an amazing outcome and one to be celebrated, so on the 1st of June 2019 Sam together with her family and friends celebrated the 12-month milestone.  The future was looking a lot brighter for Sam and her boys.

In the back of Sam's mind though she could still hear the words from her oncologist "prepare yourself in case the cancer does come back".

Two months ago Sam's world came crashing down for the second time - after having a bone scan the doctors found a spot on her liver.  She was then sent for more tests.  Sam received a phone call while away with her sisters from the oncologist saying the scan's showed the cancer had reappeared in her liver and pelvis.

Sam is determined to continue her fight - she is not ready to go anywhere.  This is just another hurdle for her to jump over.

Sam was booked to have surgery in December - it was to be a pelvic exenteration which would consist of removing the cancer from her liver, removing her bladder and all of her womanly hormones - including her vagina, however after problems getting all the surgeons together at one time it was decided to start with immunotherapy treatment first.  Sam will also undergo oncothermia treatment.

Sam is one of the most precious gifts on this planet.  Her smile, sense of humour, love and compassion for others is truly unique.   When Sam was first diagnosed last year, she began a blog "my fork-you cancer" (https://www.facebook.com/My-Fork-you-Cancer-site-352684738606741) which friends and family could be in constant contact with her progress - this blog has captured the hearts of many and Sam continues to be an inspiration for others.

Sam is an amazing mum to her two boys - they need her to be in their lives for a long time.
Both Levi and Jye have sent a letter to Santa this Christmas both wishing for their mum's cancer to go away (among other things like lego and a quad bike).

If you could find it in your hearts to help Sam with her medical and healing expenses we would be most grateful.
