Sam & Devon's dream home fund

Hi everyone,

On August 19th, 2018 we were contacted by our landlord and she told us that she's selling the house we rent from her. We've been in touch with her realtor who is very motivated and in a hot housing market, with her expectations being that the house sells and closes within a couple of months. Longer story short, we are very likely going to have to move out of our house within 3 months.

Instead of going on to find a new place to rent, at a much higher rate than our current rent, we'd much rather buy our own house. It's our dream to move into a small house in the North East Bay, giving us space to start a family as newlyweds and continue to build our careers in San Francisco.

We need your help.

Can you help us by contributing some money to help us cover some of our moving expenses? Costs like boxes, repainting a place when we move in, renting a U-Haul, etc. Anything you can contribute will help us greatly.

Hello, friends! Devon and I are planning to get married soon and we've started to consider next steps. One of those big steps is buying a house together and we're hoping you can help us make that transition. We're not going to have a traditional wedding and have decided to funnel our resources into starting our next chapter together.

Can you help us by donating a little bit of money?

Both of us make fairly modest salaries (for the Bay Area) and we've been renting a house together for the past few years. Recently, our landlord increased our rent AND we just found out that she has listed it for sale on Zillow. Without telling us. Awesome, right?

This gave us the kick in the butt that we needed. We've talked to a lender to help us get a loan and we should be pretty good to go. But, we could use all the help we can get with funding for the downpayment and move-in.

We're starting the process of looking at places with an experienced realtor. Once we land a place and we're all moved in and ready to go, we'd love to have everyone over for a house-warming party! We also plan to travel across the country likely in 2019 and have wedding parties in the SF Bay Area, Ohio, and New Hampshire - so that we can celebrate with all of you!

We've been so fortunate to have the love and support that we do. We're not looking for a White Knight(s) to swoop in and save us, but we are hoping to collect some small donations from friends and family.

All proceeds will 100% go toward our down-payment, to help make some small fixes to the house (rip out old carpet, repaint, etc), and to help us move. We're not asking here for the full amount, we'd love to be able to raise even just a portion of the money we need.

We're humbly asking for your help. We've lived in the Bay Area for nearly 10 years and while it has kicked our butts a few times, we're now in a great place career-wise and feel like it's soon time to start a family. We're hoping you can help us kick off this next chapter of our journey :)
