My name is Colleen and I am fundraising in hopes of building a ”Sea Farm” operated  by, and for, women in recovery where we will grow kelp, oysters, and mussels.

Over two years ago my life took an unbelievable turn when I made the decision to stop using substances to cope with life‘s challenges. It was largely through the love and support of women in recovery that I was able to regain my self-esteem, self worth, hope, happiness, and trust in others.   These women helped 28585052_15217588100_r.jpegsave my life. It is now my turn to pay them back by paying it forward and helping other women in recovery.

I have worked on the water for many years growing kelp, mussels, oysters, and lobstering.   I believe that getting your hands dirty and engaging with nature is a wonderful way to heal. Planting something, caring for it, and watching it grow builds confidence and strength. These are two things that women new to recovery often struggle with.

Recovery is a hard road, but as women together “Sisters “  we can help change each other’s lives.   We can find hope and purpose where we once thought all was lost, and a way out of the murky waters.

My hope is to give women the opportunity to build something greater than themselves, to work alongside other sober women in a safe environment, and to help confidently reestablish themselves in a healthy workplace.

If you believe in recovery and helping women, alongside an amazing way to help restore our coast lines and oceans through “Sea Farming” Then please Share, donate, and help spread the word.  Your help is greatly appreciated... Because we are worth way more than our salt!!!

          Thank you

We are excited to announce our next fundraiser!!! Inspired by our friends @washashorestore who make amazing products out of recycled lobster line, the “yellow leash” project which promotes awareness for animals who may need space on leash, and #ourgirlsummit who gave us quite the scare recently when the vet discovered a growth on her spleen.

Donate $50 to the Salt Sisters recovery farm project through our go fund me page at www.gofundme.com/salt-sisters and we will send you a hand made lobster line leash of your choosing. Yellow, green, or blue... and lovingly hand spliced by the Salt Sisters themselves!

***Once you have made your $50 donation per leash, please email us at summitpointseafood@yahoo.com with your color preference and mailing address. We will cover all shipping and handling.***

Thank you for supporting the Salt Sisters recovery farm project! Happy tails and winding trails!

Hi everyone, I know it has been a while since our last update. I wanted to fill everyone in on what was going on with the Salt Sisters Recovery farm project!

The application process to acquire a lease in Maine waters is rather lengthy! The state requires multiple meetings with harbormasters and the town prior to submitting your application. After your application is deemed complete the state will then dive on the proposed lease area and do their own independent review.

Our site dive was performed last July, and we are still waiting for the state to complete their review so that we can schedule our 2nd round of hearings. Six months of waiting is hard, and I’ll be honest when I say that it knocked the wind out of my sails. I have had more women than I will be able to hire approach me looking for work, only to be told about this ongoing delay in paperwork. It’s been heartbreaking.

The good news! Is that I haven’t given up!

My original expectation was that our paperwork would have been complete by last September, and I felt that I was doing more harm than good by continuing to promote the program during the delay. I didn’t want to let any more women down.

So, it being a new year, with new goals and a new outlook, we are setting our sights on next September! And I am doing everything in my power to make sure that that happens! Come hell or Highwater we will have this farm! And it will be a resource for women in recovery!

In the meantime we are also looking forward to having a couple new fundraisers! Salt sisters tote bags are on their way, and we are working on another fun fundraiser for all of our pet lovers!

Let’s get the momentum back for 2019! Who’s with me?!
