SACRED MUSIC comes to life, a recording project dedicated to the great music for soloists, chorus and orchestra by Federico Maria Sardelli. The quick success achieved by the CD Baroque Concertos (Brilliant, 2013), awarded with 5 diapasons by the prestigious French magazine Diapason, has disclosed that the contemporary baroque music by Federico Maria Sardelli has a strong communicative ability. Sardelli, beside being a world-famous composer and music director, is one of the world's preeminent experts on Antonio Vivaldi's music, and is now in charge of his catalogue (RV). He was defined «Vivaldi's best pupil».
It is on the wave of this exuberance that the SACRED MUSIC project was born, with the target of recording the sacred music by FMS for great ensembles. The protagonists of the project are the Orchestra Barocca Modo Antiquo, leading ensemble in the baroque environment (the only baroque orchestra to have picked up two Grammy Awards nominations), and the Coro Del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, one of the most amazing Italian choirs. These two well-known musical institutions are joined by three vocal soloists of excellence.
SACRED MUSIC's program includes three great sacred pieces for chorus, soloists and orchestra, all unpublished compositions that will be recorded in world premiere: warrior's psalm "Dixit Dominus" in D major; "Kyrie", with an intense and brooding quality, dominated by counterpointistic writing; "Credo", bright page for chorus and orchestra built on Chaconne's bass.
