Sabrina Girard - Her Battle with Cancer

Donation protected
Ken and Sabrina Girard were once high school sweethearts who knew from a young age that they belonged together. After graduating high school, they married, and started a family. Ken and Sabrina now live in the small upstate New York town of Rotterdam with their children, Kenny Jr. (14) and Angelina (11) who are both very active in sports in the Mohonasen School District.

In 2011, at the young age of 34, Sabrina noticed a rash on her skin and made an appointment with her primary doctor. After months of being treated for psoriasis and eczema with no relief, her doctor diagnosed Sabrina with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, also known as CTCL. Soon after, Sabrina was referred to a specialist at Yale University to begin treatment.

In January of 2012, Sabrina began intense treatment for Sezary Syndrome, the most aggressive form of CTCL. Not only does Sezary affect the skin, but also the blood and lymph nodes. Sabrina’s treatment plan consisted of travel to New Haven, Connecticut every four weeks for intense therapy, leaving her unable to work, as well as Ken and her two kids behind in New York.

By early 2014, Sabrina’s skin was cleared and the Leukemia completely eliminated. Sabrina, like most people who have a form of cancer, knew that she would have to fight for life. Fast forward to October 2018 when Sabrina started to notice a familiar rash on her skin. The rashes spread quickly and began causing extreme pain all over her body.

Ken and Sabrina have worked hard to sustain their home and provide for their two children. Both working full time jobs, juggling football practice with cheerleading and softball, and still finding time to be with one another. Sabrina’s fight has forced her out of work, turning a dual income household into a single income household. As Sabrina’s battle has progressed, Ken has been forced to take time from his job to care for his loving wife and their children, further reducing their household income.

We are asking that family, friends, and anyone willing to help please donate to the Girard family in their time of need. Between paying thousands of dollars for treatment alone, along with travel expenses, care for the kids, food, hotels, and so much more – the Girard family needs our help. There is no donation too small. Words of encouragement and a small donation can go a long way at a time like this. Please join us in supporting this well deserving family who we all know and love.
