Help Sarah continues her college

Donation protected
I am writing on behalf of my sister, Sarah in hopes of raising money for financial aid so she can continue attending college and obtain her bachelor degree. Sarah was a diligent student in her high school years, trying her hardest at academic success as well as being involved in various sports, as well as extracurricular activities. While being a well-rounded student and athlete, Sarah’s home life was less than ideal. When Sarah was just 12 years old, an unwanted twist of fate appeared when Sarah found her mother unconscious in the family home. Our mother from that day on, lived the remainder of her life in a nursing home, comatose. As Sarah became a young adult and faced the trials and tribulations of puberty, she was forced to lean on her best friends’ mother for guidance, motherly advice and the like as she was living with our father and her 2 older brothers, myself being Deaf and our brother diagnosed with Down Syndrome.

In November of 2010 when Sarah was just a sophomore in high school, our father had unexpectedly passed away. Leaving Sarah orphaned, I, as her older Deaf brother, sought and was appointed her legal guardian. While still grieving her father’s death, Sarah’s mother, who was comatose for 5 years, passed away in April her senior year of high school. Although during this trying time, Sarah had not given up any extra curricular activities---especially cross country and softball which Sarah then passionately threw herself into until graduating. During this time, I was her biggest supporter and, took care of her as a guardian should. Growing up lacking parental supports when she needed it most was neither easy nor fair for Sarah.

Finally, when her college years had sprung upon her, she was accepted into Sacred Heart University. Initially, I was anxiety provoked because of the hefty price tag that went along with the prestigious school, however, I was confident that Sarah would receive ample amount of aid to make it work. Since the day she stepped foot on that campus, I haven’t seen her as happy in all of her short 18 years. It seemed all of the heartaches Sarah had endured through her early years, had finally had some sort of Karmic shift. Sarah states she finally feels happy and accredits this to Sacred Heart University, its educational system, campus, sports, and recreation as well as the various students she is making friends with. During Sarah’s first semester through the fourth semester, she worked extremely hard and earned a GPA of 3.7 as well as being involved in campus activities. Sarah continues to voice that she would really like to finish out her undergraduate career at Sacred Heart University as she feels at home, her major suits her perfectly, and she enjoys running on the cross country team.

I am writing to you today to ask if you could find it in your heart to work with us in regards to the tuition. I am unable to afford to pay for college tuition due to household bills as well as continuing to pay for my deceased parent’s mortgage while on a limited income, collecting SSDI benefits. As most of you that know and love Sarah, know she deserves all the help she can get. The funds are being set up for Sarah directly to help with financial aid to SHU as we truly cannot afford for her to attend this institution. Please help me help her out. It would be greatly appreciated!

I am hoping she would be returning for the next academic year.

Respectfully,

Michael
