Although my wife and I have been staying in contact with Christie and the children, at the same time, we have been trying to give them room to grieve and heal on their own. To say that they are fully recovered from the loss of Peter is unrealistic at this point, but I would have to say that through their strong faith in God and the support of their family and community, that they are definitely moving forward in the healing process. The boys are still active in their sports (as dad would have wanted) and as you can imagine it is a full time job for Christie just keeping up with the house and kids. Christie may have lost Peter, but she still gets to look at him every day through their five children. And thanks to EVERYONE that gave support through this website has helped lighten the financial burden left by this tragedy. These gifts have helped pay off many bills for the family. In turn has allowed Christie to focus on raising the kids instead of trying to figure out how she was going to pay the next bill. Which is why Mallory and I want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for EVERYTHING that you have done... Words could not describe how thankful we are for your support. I know that we have said it before but we are truly speechless.
For those of you that did not know, Peter was my best friend for over 30 years. I loved him like a brother…. and miss him more than words can describe. Throughout our life countless hours were spent together on the wrestling mat, sitting in the deer-stand, and walking though creeks/ponds. We were together in many ups and downs in life and helped each other get through a lot. We not only spent free time together, we also worked together for the same company. Those that knew us the best knew that we loved and fought like brothers. That’s just the way we were. Not many people can say that they had a relationship like Peter and I had which is why I feel so blessed to look back on what we had in that. I will never expect to replace our friendship. I won’t even try. I’ll be too busy missing him… Everything that I loved to do I did with him; hunting, trapping, fishing, wrestling. Since he has been gone, I no longer feel like doing any of those things the way I did before. But I know that Peter would very upset if I quit…. Simply because he wasn’t a quitter. So I’ll have to figure it out. In the meantime I think I just miss him….
On behalf of Christie and the children, my wife and I want to once again say THANK YOU for EVERYTHING and please continue to keep the family in your prayers.

Christie would like to Thank each and every one of you for all of the support for her and the kids. She said they are doing well considering the circumstances and that the kids are unbelievably strong, just like their dad. Please continue to keep Christie and family in your prayers for the upcoming trial, as you can imagine it is going to be very difficult for them.
Again- Thank you all so much!!
http://kstp.com/news/stories/s3769325.shtml Please note, he crossed the river to go home. Not to escalate a fight. In either case, showing compassion and respect towards a widow and 5 little babies would be more appropriate for this forum. This man was a man many should strive to be. God gives this family faith and strength they will require to move forward.
This is such a sad heart breaking story. Regarding the 'question' made by a previous post, you should be ashamed of yourself. The '19 yr old kid' you referred to, is a legal adult and no matter how the confrontation began, there is no excuse for committing such a violent act resulting in this mans death. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Peter, who sounds to have been a respectable human being. May he rest in peace and his memory live on.
This year’s wrestling was a tough year for my son Cole. He struggled right away but kept after it learning new moves and trying super hard when he was out on the mat. The coaches were very supportive and continued to tell me that he needs to stay in wrestling because he could be really good. Other issues and some tough losses during a tournament had Cole turning for the door. I had a wrestling coach at my college pull me aside and tell me that if I didn't pull it together and if I quit, that I would learn how easy it was to quit or how hard it is to win. You will never win if you’re not in the game. Pete was the only one in that gym that Cole listened to, and he finished the tournament. Pete sitting down with Cole and going through that tough man to man conversation was one of the greatest things I've seen. Even if Cole never wrestles again, we owe Pete a life time of wins. Thanks Pete. Prayers to you and your family.
I will continue to Pray for you and your family. You now have a very special Angel looking over you so you will have some good guidance! Best wishes! Pete

Love pours out in this sad time. I pray for peace and rest. Peter was friendly and kind. My heart breaks for the family of 6 he leaves behind.
It was a pleasure to contribute to your very deserving campaign. You will need every penny to cover current as well as long-term expenses. With all of the hatred and misery in our world, it is uplifting for all of us to see complete strangers helping out.
I did not know Pete but what I have read on the news breaks my heart, so sorry for your loss, may God bless you and his family
This breaks my heart.... Pete was such an inspirational young man. Praying for these days and years ahead, may God be with you all.
i am so sorry for your loss. I have been there and it will be very hard to get thru all the days ahead. I will be praying for you.
What a tragedy for someone to take the life of such a wonderful loving husband and father like Pete was day in day out! He was a hard working, God loving and proud American with many blessings in his life. I will really miss our conversations at work about life and politics and our ongoing bathroom remodel project! His huge smile right away when I saw him and the quick witted joking around made him a true blessing; one of those great people to see at work every day. I will miss you very much my friend, very much! God Bless you and your beautiful family!
Very sorry for the loss of Peter Kelly, very inspirational guy and a great member of the community. Prayers to Peter and his Family
