On April 13, 2015, I was exonerated after serving 10 years for a crime I didn't commit. I was arrested when I was 17 years old, just a month before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. I am looking forward to rebuilding my life. Thank you for your support!

Yesterday marked my first week of freedom and, so far, it has been wonderful. Living in the free world is amazing and more than a little overwhelming, but I've been trying to soak it all in. I have spent this week getting in touch with old friends and spending time with my family--especially my little nieces and nephews. I'm so glad I get to be Uncle Kia now. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, it means so much to me and my family.
