US Deaf Soccer 2018 Camp Travel

Hello, My name is Patrick Shea and I’m apart of the U.S. Men’s National Deaf Soccer Team. I’m here speaking with you because I want to contact as many organizations as I can to speak with them and spread awareness in my fund along with the U.S. National Deaf Team members in raising money to get ourselves to Italy for the 2016 Deaf World Cup in the summer of 2016.

Here’s a brief story. I’m Patrick Shea and I was born in Munster, Germany while my father was at the times stationed during his time with the U.S. ARMY. I was born with Goldenhar Syndrome, which is a congenital defect characterized by incomplete development of the ear, nose, soft plate, lip, and mandible. In this case for me is the rights side of my skull along with right ear that cased myself to lose a substantial amount of hearing. I now live in Lawton, Oklahoma and have been living in since 1994.

Throughout my life had to go over many hurdles to achieve in everything I set my mind to. Rather it’s education, sports, work, and community service, I was able to achieve many goals I set myself to. Majority of those goals is my sport and that is soccer. I was able to achieve Most Valuable Player status in my local club time as well as my achievements throughout high school. I was hand picked by my USA team coach to come tryout for the U.S. Men’s Deaf Soccer Team and happy to say I became apart of the program for the past three years now.

In the year 2016, we have qualified to participate in the 2016 Deaf World Cup in Italy to play against the best of the best deaf national teams in the world and I’ve become one of the best in this country to be on the roster for the USA team. Unfortunately, due to lack of sponsorships, each player on the Team has to raise over $6000 to help pay for hotel and travel fees. Though we have some sponsorship, they’ve only provided us with gear and jersey for practices and games. Every practice session and game we attend comes out of our own pockets and none of us are paid to play but we continue to play because we love the game and love representing out great country. The U.S. Soccer Federation does not help us with anything in travel and gear, but are okay with that because again, we love this game.

I’m the only Oklahoman on this team and not very few Oklahomans have represented the USA in any soccer level when it comes to the world cup. I know I can represent this great state with full confidence and as well as the many professional sports teams across this state. I’m contacting you today to ask and hopefully set up a meeting to help me get to Italy with my teammates to represent this state ands this country in the Deaf World Cup. I would love to have sponsorships and donations from organizations as well as the citizens of Oklahoma to donate to me and to my USA Team for this tournament. I would love to speak and hear from you about supporting me and helping achieve this goal so I can live my life dream in my love for soccer.
