Ann and Bob are extraordinarily giving individuals. They foster children and dogs while helping care for their grandson full-time.

Ann's family lost their home and personal belongings to a storm in Verona, Virginia. Their house collapsed in and flooded, and they were not allowed in to gather belongings. Their insurance is not stepping in to take care of any of the damages or losses, resulting in a 100% loss.

Currently, Ann's family is displaced and staying with a family friend. We are trying to gather funds to help them until they can get back on their feet, as they have helped so many others before.  Checks can be mailed to

Update 5/29/2018

Its been a bit since the last update and I wanted post on the progress we've mad and the walls we are up against. The insurance company is still being of no use. The mortgage company is taking their sweet time getting us a letter for the contractors stating that they have their blessing to even begin work on the house. The house has been stabilized and we have been able to remove some belongings and start taking the destroyed belongings out of the basement. We have retained legal representation although that will take time and doesn't get us closer to getting back in the house any time soon. The hole in our house has been covered with plastic in an attempt to keep the daily downpours out. We are working as fast and as hard as we can but this isn't a fast process or easy one. The outpouring of love and support from our friends, family and community and been amazing. Again if you haven'y heard a personal thank you from us just know that we are very thankful for every prayer, hug, kind word etc.

Thank you for everything for our very appreciative family.

Update 05-22-2018

We've had more contractors in and have a working plan. The weather hasn't cooperated since last Monday and rain, some severe has been a daily occurrence. Today the beams and post as well as the dumpster has been delivered to the house. Tomorrow work will begin on stabilizing the structure so hopefully we can start moving what was our belongings and the other debris. I've included some more pictures and will try to update this page as often as I can.

With deep and sincere thanks,

Update 5/50/2108

It's been almost a week since we lost our house due to a severe storm. We still don't have very many answers and every day brings many more questions. Both our insurance and mortgage company have said we are on our own. They've offered no help of any kind what so ever. Not a checklist. Not a list of contractors that can do the work. Nothing. No contractor we have talked to will enter the house even to shore it up so work can begin. No contractor we have talked to has ever seen something like this where we live. We are splitting time between my daughters and sisters house. We need to find housing soon because we need our family back again. From whatever we can gather, this has been a failure brewing since 1990. On Monday we are going to seek legal assistance that we haven't had any time to do yet. As much as we can be, we are 100% committed to staying on that property and finding a solutions to this problem and go back to our life as everybody that knows us remembers it. This was a house of open doors. If we had food, you had food. If you needed a place to sleep and we had room or a couch, this was a place to sleep.

We a very grateful for everything that has been done for us and the outpouring of love and support that we have been shown from friends, family, complete strangers, co-workers past and present and our wonderful community. I can't express my gratitude enough.

With deep and sincere thanks
The Young family.
