Nurse Ryna Needs U Not C

"Great Nurses Forget their Most Important Patients: Themselves"
A brave nurse who has spent her career helping and caring for sick patients has been given a terminal diagnosis. Nothing is terminal for this strong, positive, and courageous nurse. Her two little boys, Wiley and Sebastian, are her ultimate weapons in battling the so-called BIG C.
Ryna Wynn (her name says it all) first succeeded in fighting a stage 3 colon cancer 3 years ago. Her son, Wiley, was about 14 months old at that time. It was on Valentine's Day when she first went to the ER for what she  thought to be an ordinary abdominal pain.
Ryna underwent surgeries, repairs, and whatnot. She has endured countless hours of chemotherapy, and the worst side effects one cannot imagine. Despite all those, she astounded us all at John Muir Health Walnut Creek, when she returned to work, after succeeding the said battle. That part of her journey didn't make her less as a nurse, but instead, better than ever! Ryna has a burning passion for bedside nursing. She loves what she does and she's very good at it.
We remember how grateful Ryna was when she finally got rid of her VAP (port for her chemo treatment). She was then free of cancer!
Ryna  was blessed with another  angel named Sebastian in January last year. A couple of months later after returning to work, Ryna has been busy with her routine lab monitoring and recommended diagnostic tests. It was summer last year, when she broke the news to us casually about her tests and her hematologist/oncologist's findings. "Stage 4 ,- they found 5 (?) tumors  located around the mesentery which are non-operable, "  As she continued, not a shaky voice nor a teardrop, "The doctor said, I have 6 months to live without treatment - and 2-3 years with treatment". For all of us, except for her, it was like the end of the world that day.  But Ryna remained calm and composed, what  a certified BRAVEHEART! "I have been through this, done it,  and won this before, I can do it again!" - Ryna
The chemo sessions were way too much for her this time around, that she'd end up being admitted for the most part. More referrals & consults, they decided to stop the chemo treatments and switched to immunotherapy. The latter didn't really help either stopping the growth of the tumors, but, grew even bigger and apparentlly made its way  somewhere else - into her spleen, instead.
All these... what is Ryna doing? How is she?
Ryna has been intensely expressing her wish to return to work so she won't lose her "Bedside Nursing Job", she's been  taking care of herself and her  family, performing her responsibilities to her loved ones despite her condition. That is the NURSE in her, still caring for the people around her when we all think that she is the one who needs a nurse to  care for her.
It took us awhile to convince Ryna to be able to let everyone know her story, accepting the need for help. At this point, she needs more prayers than anything else, but, she has been off from work for more than six months now....that being said, she needs financial assistance to cover for her insurance payment (COBRA), medical, and daily expenses.
We urge everyone to donate so we can help this wonderful nurse, mother, and daughter have more time with those who love her so much.
"Dear God,
Thank you for reminding me that without YOU I can do nothing. Every perfect gift comes from YOU. Though many things about tomorrow that I don't seem to understand, remind me oh Lord that I can only do so much, but, the rest is in YOUR hands.
Love,
"
