As our coaching staff sat in a meeting room reviewing and analyzing our season that had just passed we started laying out ideas that could elevate our program and provide the best experience for our athletes, one of us blurted out the words... THE World Cup! No we thought... that's not possible... or is it...
Every kid who grows up playing this game dreams of one day going to the Fifa World Cup. One of the most important principles we want to instill in our players is that anything you put your mind to is possible and no idea is too big or too crazy.
This year our goal is to make that dream come true for our players who have committed to personally fundraising for half of this trip. That is right... we want to take the Ryerson Rams Soccer team to the World Cup in Russia this summer.
The trip includes:
-Watching two world cup games and getting to see the game they have played all their lives at the highest level
-Connecting with the Paralympic Russian soccer team to set up an exhibition game! (currently we have an amazing Brazilian Paralympic national team soccer player on our team who's an unbelievable person and player)
-Opening our students eyes to learn about the Russian culture and people
-Ryerson Soccer's first International Linking Sport and Education Clinic (Moscow- Educating youth through soccer on the importance of education and opportunities available through linking sport and education
-Ryerson Soccer's first International ID camp (Moscow)
-Creating a once in a lifetime experience for our student athletes
