As of April 4, no signs of rejection and doctors say he doing great! The symptoms of his heart failure that restricted his young life are gone and he is feeling great. He takes daily walks, is taking full advantage of home cooked meals and is spending time with friends and family.  He's recovering extreemly well thanks to his strength, positive attitude, and love and support from all of you!

After only 4 days listed at 1A on the transplant list, Ryan recieved a miracle on March 11, 2017, a new HEART!
Thanks to his amazing team of doctors and lots of love and prayers, Ryan's new heart is beating well and he can begin his recovery and his new life. Thank you again to all who have supported Ryan and our family. We are extreemly thankful for this new gift of life given to him by a generous donor and their family. Ryan and our family are forever thankful. We will continue to update you all on his progress!

Dear Family and Friends,

Growing up my brother Ryan was the typical active boy. He played countless games of tag, built forts in the woods, played soccer and traveled New England playing hockey. As an adult he skied, hiked, played hockey, ran a Tough Mudder and a Spartan Race. He was a very active dad to beloved daughter Emma (age 8) and son Noah (age 5). Even his job of 13 year was physically depending. Never in his wildest dreams did he or his family know he had a very sick heart.

It all started in May of 2015, after feeling short of breath at work he drove himself to the ER. Ryan at the age of 33 was told was he had congenital bicuspid aortic valve and congenital heart failure and required immediate open heart surgery to replaced his aortic valve and two arteries. The surgeon informed us that he never had felt a heart like Ryan's in 30 year of cardiac surgery. Even with the new valve, Ryan's heart was very sick despite the all the medications. His heart prevented him from returning to work.

In October of 2016, Ryan was referred to renowned Massachusetts General Hospital's Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Clinic. This amazing team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons determined Ryan needed a new heart soon. Ryan felt good some days and got a taste of his old life, but these days have diminished.

On November 18, 2016, Ryan was officially accepted into the transplant program. This amazing news doesn't diminish that massive toll this sickness has had on Ryan. He has a long, scary yet hopeful journey ahead.

Ryan's life has been turned completely upside down. Not only is worrying about his health a massive stress, with his heart functioning at 10%, but the financial strain has become unbearable. Over 18 months has passed since Ryan was forced to leave his well paying job and the expenses of his mortgage, car payment, utilities, now includes medicine, office visit co-pays and travel expenses.

With your help, Ryan can focus on his health knowing his financial burden has eased and he will be able to afford the costly medications after receiving his new heart. Lastly, Ryan has hopes to return to being an active father to his children and return to earning a living with his fully functioning heart.

Ryan and his family are forever grateful for the love and support we have received as we journey towards his new heart.

We greatly appreciate any amount you are able to donate.

Thank you and god bless!
