Help Ryan compete in Abu Dhabi

Donation protected

In October 2016, Ryan's medal winning performance at the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition earned him a place on the Worldskills Australia Skills Squad team among Australia’s best young skilled apprentices and trainees.

Ryan, along with 17 of Australia’s current National Champions from their particular trade or skill has now been succesfully selected to join the elite *2017 Skillaroos forming part of Team Australia that will go on to represent Australia at the world’s largest vocational skills competition – the WorldSkills International Competition, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.

Ryan is working tirelessly every day to reach his goal of winning the Gold Medal while representing his country in Abu Dhabi. Often referred to as the Olympic Games for Skills and Trades, the WorldSkills International Competition will see the world’s best trade young men and women, from 76 nations, compete in 50 different categories for the title of World Champion.

To ensure Ryan has the best possible chance of winning a medal, he is now taking on an intensive training program and along with his mentors, category experts and a team of dedicated volunteers Ryan will train and develop his skills, his decision making abilities and build the resilience needed to compete against the world’s best.

With your help we can provide Ryan with the best possible opportunity to achieve his full potential, represent WorldSkills Australia at the International Competition in Abu Dhabi in October and come home with a medal.

ABOUT RYAN:
Ryan might be a perfectionist as a carpenter, but it’s only because he is hardworking and motivated to get the job done right.

“I was inspired by a family friend to get into carpentry. After I completed the Doorways2Construction vocational training program in high school I went onto an Apprenticeship with Brenton Duldig.”

Ryan’s involvement with WorldSkills has focused him to really think about the job at-hand and to dedicate his time to it. He has already tasted success winning the Tjerk Dusseldorp Best Performing Competitor award at the 2016 Nationals.

Ryan is looking forward to starting his own carpentry and building business in South Australia as well as “one day being be able to build my own home.”

*2017 Skillaroos are champions chosen to represent Australia on the world’s trade and skills stage, and help to secure the future of the skilled Australian workforce.

** Australia is currently ranked 12th in the world and in 2017 we aspire to break into the top 10.
