Rwanda-one4one: The Taxi Project

Tax deductible

Meet Jado and his family.  They are honorable, prideful people yet who sadly have no income and little hope for a stable future due to the intense hardships they are struggling with because of their economic situation.  I know them personally. Jado is an experienced taxi driver but there are no job opportunities where he can be hired. He can only work if he owns his own taxi. We wish to raise $5,000 for the purchase of a 4-door compact car suitable for a taxi and one year of insurance. The car purchase will provide a job opportunity for Jado and his family to lift his household from poverty. Can you help us make this dream a reality for them?  Any amount is gratefully accepted.
Thank you.

Rwanda-one4one , a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization, is working with one family in Rwanda (seven households, including Jado's family) to lift them from poverty and create income opportunities. They live throughout Rwanda and are blood related. Mariya is the elder (69) and the pillar of the family; they depend on her strength every day. Half of the households do not have a male in authority, and women are running the households. They suffered great losses from the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and have lived in abject poverty most of their lives, from babies to adults. They are families of Christian faith, gracious in every way, and eternally grateful for any care we can offer.

Through donations Rwanda-one4one directly improves their living standards, including, but not limited to paying school fees for the children in the families, assistance with emergency medical expenses, livestock care and supplies, and home property maintenance. In 2013, Rwanda-one4one purchased a cow for Mariya. In 2014 and 2015, we paid for a cement floor, drop ceilings, interior painting and a water source for Mariya’s home. We support ongoing funding for 8 children’s school fees and hope to add 4 more in 2018. Education is the future for the children, as they grow up. With high school and university degrees they will be able to acquire jobs and support themselves and their families. In 2016, we paid for surgery for a family member who had a life threatening tumor in her abdomen. She is now healed and healthy. We have supplied leg braces for two children in the family who needed leg straightening due to malnutrition issues. They are doing well and growing up strong. These are a few of the areas our direct funding is making an impact.  Rwanda-one4one focuses on finding ways to improve their future through education and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Umva, the natural dye project of Rwanda-one4one, is an income opportunity for the women in the family to naturally dye textiles using indigenous plants in Rwanda for color. Umva is a fair trade project providing income, through textile sales, to the families to improve their standard of living.

Rwanda-one4one believes that earning income through entrepreneurial endeavors brings empowerment, hope and freedom from poverty, which in turn raises others up from poverty, causing a ripple effect that makes a difference to more Rwandans.
