RVers Lose Everything in Christmas Day RV Fire

This is a story that none of us want to live or experience ourselves. One that not long ago began with a couple embracing the excitement and joy of buying an RV in preparation for a full time RV lifestyle.
As we all know... life can take wild turns without warning.
On Christmas Day (2018) Mike and Becky Reeves from LivingTheDashRV.com were preparing their Christmas Day dinner when tragedy suddenly struck. Water and hot cooking oil accidentally combined and no more than five minutes later their home and all belongings were gone.
Becky, who has MS, had inhaled significant smoke and was in shock. Mike was watching in disbelief . They are from Alaska so have no family in Arizona. They do not have a tow vehicle so had no form of transportation. Mike's wallet (credit cards, cash, identification) was lost in the fire so they have no access to financial resources.
The RV Nomads team went into action and did everything we could to help. John and Brenda Nejedlo of GEOAstroRV.com escorted them to the hospital and booked them for a week at a hotel. Tony and Melissa Flammia from HippieandTheTech.com made them a meal and provided a care package. Andrew and Rikki Pullen from 'Pullen On The Road' also provided a care package and several other RVers donated clothes, a dog bed and some toiletries.
On the morning of December 26th, 2018, more RVers in the Phoenix area began to rally support for the Reeves.
It quickly became apparent, however, that more help would be needed. While our team was able to get them through the following day, their situation is still rather dire. They have started the insurance claims process but this is a long drawn out scenario with a destroyed home located way out in BLM land in the desert west of Phoenix. This was their home. This was their lives. And right now they are essentially homeless in the Phoenix area.
More RVers are pitching in with rides, clothes and supplies. The response has been incredible. And according to the Reeves the support has been life changing.
In addition to the support flowing in now, however, some cash is needed to help the Reeves sort all of this out and get back on the road. A move which, even after this tragic situation, they are eager to make. This is not going to deter them from RV life. It does, though, make it all significantly more difficult with all things considered.
The Reeves were ready to enjoy an amazing Christmas Day boondocking as full time RVers and it all collapsed in a matter of moments. The RV community, we believe, can help turn things around for them.
