Ruthie's Metastatic Breast Cancer

On 9/11/2001, my twin sister Ruthie at age 37, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sixteen years later to the day on 9/11/2017 she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer that spread to her chest wall, chest lymph nodes and liver, a stage 4 cancer.
Ruthie had been through chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and reconstructive surgery. She now has started this nightmare all over.
As her cancer disrupts her life once again, the added medical expenses and the unfathomable delays and denials by the health insurance company are causing unnecessary stress that needs to be relieved. You can only imagine the anxiety this brings to any cancer patient.
She is prescribed 2 chemotherapy treatments, infusion (Gemzar) and oral (Xeloda). These treatments cause fatigue, and hand-foot syndrome (palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia). This will not allow her to do the catering she loves to do, therefore losing most of her income from her 2nd job. Her treatments will effect other bodily areas such as her teeth. Extensive dental work may be needed.
As a result of her cancer returning, her lymphedema has also returned. Lymphedema is caused by the removal of her lymph nodes in her left arm 16 years ago. Fluids retain in her arm which require therapy and wearing custom made sleeves.
Ruthie is an amazing person, a true fighter. She is a wonderful, compassionate sister, aunt and friend. She is a dedicated and extremely hard worker to both her employers and always goes above and beyond for the people in her life. She lives in her little cottage with her canine companion, Ruby, who she spoils with love and many treats. And Ruby returns her love by brightening Ruthie's good days along with her bad days.
Ruthie's primary employer, where she has worked for 19 plus years has been 100% supportive and helpful through both of her battles with this disease. They have treated her like family and we are truly grateful.
Our goal here is to alleviate some of the anxiety and stress caused by her high medical expenses and loss of income, so that she can concentrate and focus on healing and bringing herself into remission.
