From Merry Christmas to Medical Nightmare...
Christmas day 2016 was as beautiful as ever. The Hilger family was present at their home in Mustang, OK. That evening, Rusty's wife recalls that Rusty was complaining of an upset stomach. Just before midnight, Tera found Rusty on the bathroom floor in a pool of black blood - unconscious!

Several seconds later -- Rusty regained his senses only to realize he was bleeding internally. Rusty was rushed to Integris Yukon hospital where the emergency staff was waiting. Over the next 7 hours the medical team worked to stop the bleeding. Hours later An Endoscopy revealed a walnut-sized tumor in the Esophagus as the source of the bleeding.

The biopsy report delivered on 12/27/2016 revealed the tumor as Adenocarcinoma or lower esophageal cancer.

Update: 01/018/2017
Doctors from OKC Integris Cancer Center perform an Endoscopic ultrasound and a PET Scan which revealed the cancer is localized but in the lymph nodes. Chemo and radiation were advised immediately.

Update: 02/17/2017
Rusty begins NEW FDA reviewed breakthrough treatment therapy from Golden Sunrise Pharmaceutical (Porterville, CA).

Update: 03/30/2017
Doctors at MD Anderson (Houston, Tx) recommend chemotherapy and radiation for 28 days.

Update: 04/03/2017 Rusty delays chemotherapy and radiation citing the risk of death by chemo/radiation is between 95%-97%.
