Rust Belt Theater 2018 Season

Spende geschützt

Hey, Rust Belt Theater Fans! We are very pleased to announce our new season for 2018!

With ELEVEN productions, FIVE of which are brand new, and TEN of which are locally written, this will be our most ambitious season to date! Here's what we have in store:

DATING SUCKS: THE MUSICAL
February 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24
Just in time for Valentine's Day, this revue style musical explores the peaks and pitfalls of modern dating, with cringeworthy real-life stories and original songs. Let us be your Valentine!

THE ROCKIN' HORRIBLES
March 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24
Brand new for 2018! A young, painfully basic couple, Dave and Jane, are mistakenly invited to a late night Tupperware soirée in the lavish mansion of excruciatingly glamorous plastic surgeon, Dr. Von Hauten Daugen, and his minions, Jib Jab, Fuschia, and Columbiana. The plot and the characters of this new parody may sound somewhat familiar, but we assure you it is only a coincidence. Don't be a pain, Jane!

MISS TUESDAY NIGHT
April 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21
Last season's biggest new hit will return! This audience participation-based show gives theater goers a sneak peek behind the scenes of small town drag pageants culture. Yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds. Who will take the crown? It could be you!

ALICE: A CURIOUS MUSICAL
May 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26
Based on the nonsensical writings of Lewis Carroll, this musical adaptation of the Wonderland stories is definitely aimed for the adult audience.

ONE MAN SHOW
June 1, 2, 8, 9
The Rust Belt Theater Company is proud to produce its sixth actor spotlight. This year's production will feature the many talents of Joshua Fleming, who has been nominated by his peers to take the stage and entertain you...all by himself!

COUCH
June 22, 23, 29, 30
A collection of short plays, surrounding the "life cycle" of an old couch as it is passed from owner to owner. This will be a collaborative writing project involving a host of local playwrights.

FORBIDDEN YOUNGSTOWN
July 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28
An annual audience favorite that pokes fun at theater culture and our love/hate relationship with the city of Youngstown, Ohio.

TITUS ANDRONICUS
August 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25
Shakespeare's bloodiest play, which tells the fictional story of Titus, a general the Roman army, who is caught in a cycle of revenge with Tamora, Queen of the Goths. It is rarely performed due to its violent and controversial content.

HOLLOW
September 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22
This will be our second new musical for 2018. It is based on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving. A new school master disappears from a small New England town without a trace. Was he spirited away by the mythical Headless Horseman, or did something even more sinister happen?

LIVING DEAD: THE MUSICAL
October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
Our second longest running production! This hilarious spoof of classic horror films is guaranteed to raise your Halloween spirits!

HOW THE DRAG QUEEN STOLE CHRISTMAS
Nov 30, Dec 1, 7, 8, 14, 15
Youngstown's guilty little holiday pleasure. Join notorious drag tyrant, Starrlet O'Hara as she is visited by three ghostly divas the night before Christmas. The stockings will most definitely be hung!

We pride ourselves on being the only local community theater that focuses primarily on producing locally written material. We are about to enter our 9th season, and if you like what we do, and would like to see us continue, here is how you can help. We are seeking donations to assist us with the following:

-Extend and reinforce our performance stage
-Purchase a new laptop for the theater
-Update our lighting and sound systems
-Expand and improve our dressing area
-Create a more efficient costume storage system
-Establish a studio/design space for the theater
-Increase our cooling capacity for summer shows

Since our inception in 2010, we have survived ENTIRELY on ticket sales, and donations from our patrons...and we are so very grateful. Please consider making a donation, and share this page with anyone who loves original, thought provoking theater.

Sincerely,
Robert Dennick Joki, Director
