Running for Rosabel
Donation protected
In a few short weeks myself, Megan, Leanne, Katrina and Amina will be running the VHI Dublin’s women’s mini marathon for Rosabel’s rooms.
Rosabel was the sweetest little girl and I had the pleasure of being her childminder. She loved to be rocked to sleep, to waddle around the kitchen to any music on the radio, sit on the bottom step of the stairs just because she could, eat chocolate of course and to laugh the loudest around her big brother Ruben.
Last April, unexpectedly, Rosabel passed away in her home in Galway. She was rushed to UHG where the nurses and doctors were amazing, but there was no appropriate place for Suzanne and Gary to be together with their child to try and navigate their way through the first couple of hours post trauma.
Following the sudden and unexplained passing of Rosabel, aged sixteen months, her amazing parents Suzanne McClean and Gary Monroe set up Rosabel’s Rooms, in collaboration with The Irish Hospice Foundation.
Rosabel’s Rooms are family-focused bereavement suites which will be established in hospitals around Ireland, beginning with Galway University Hospital. Through its Room-to-Heal fund, this project will also facilitate therapeutic and financial support for families impacted by child loss.
