Running Chester Marathon in aid of Zach’s House

I am running the Chester Marathon on the 6th October to help raise funds for a Charity which a colleague of mine is currently setting up to help provide support for bereaved parents. This charity will be called "Zach's House" in Memory of their Son Zach.
On April 17th, my colleague's Son tragically passed away aged 20. Zach was the only child of my colleague Martin and his Wife Krista.
Due to the Easter break, Krista and Martin found themselves not only having to come to terms with losing their only child but also not being able to get any help or support as most charities and organisations which help bereaved parents were closed.
Because of their experience Martin and Krista are now in the later stages of registering a Charity called "Zach's House" which will help to change this and ensure that no other parents have to be left isolated and alone in dealing with the loss of their child at any time of the year.
9000 children pass away each year in the UK between birth and 30 years old and there are a further 3000 still births. Sanctuaries and support for bereaved parents and close family/friends are very important, but few and far between.
Although there is support available today, there are things they feel are lacking:
- Immediate help is difficult to find especially during holiday periods
- There is a lack of places for parents to go to either be with like parents or be able to be left alone but with support just around the corner
Please help me to raise funds. Having children a similar age to Zach, this really touched me and although I always said that I run for myself (not to raise funds for charities), I want to help raise funds for this worthy cause, which will make such a difference to other parents that may find themselves in the same dreadful position.
