Running for Resilience & Recovery
I have grown up with a passion to work with kids and I am privileged to do so in a hospital setting in South Africa. I will be working with different patients over the course of the semester through interactive play. I have intentions of going into the Child Life field when I am done with school making this opportunity one I cannot pass up!
Lionhearted Kids is a non-profit organization that believes in building upon the strengths and resiliency of the child, family, and community. They hold firmly to the inherent wisdom that exists within each of us collectively and cross-culturally. Therefore, the role of the therapist and supporter is to work alongside community members as facilitators rather than as foreign informants. Regardless of one's country of origin or belief system, they believe that the experience of one's own reflection in another human being is essential to understanding our interconnectedness, developing compassion, and embracing our humanity.

Thank you so much for all of your help, it means a lot not only to me but to everyone who you are helping here in South Africa!
Dear friends and family of Ella,
On behalf of the board of directors and volunteers of Lionhearted Kids, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for your recent support through Ella's Gofundme race campaign. Thank you for your generous donations, which directly promote the healing of a child experiencing trauma. Right now we are focusing our efforts at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa where Ella volunteered through our Creative Arts Therapy and Wellness Program. As a witness to her volunteerism, Ella's compassion and sensitivity toward children in need is visible and palpable. Thank you for trusting in her efforts, our organization's work and in a child's capacity to heal from trauma.
