RUNNING HADRIAN'S WALL 2018

THE CHALLENGE
Is to try and run the 84 miles over what is some pretty hilly and very tough terrain as near to 24 hours as possible. Having run the full length of the Wall in three days ten years ago after turning 50, it has always been on my mind to try and do it inside 24 hours. Whilst I don't know if this is still possible, we will most certainly do our best and will be completing the run together irrespective of the final finishing time. At the end of the day, we also intend to enjoy the challenge whilst taking in some of the scenery and of course some of the history of this magnificent structure. We all face challenges as we go through our daily lives for which this challenge really is minimal when compared to the amazing work which the Hallswood Animal Sanctuary and Nelson's Journey do on a daily basis, 365 days of the year. Whilst I, Chas and Jason will have our own personal driving forces in the back of our minds when the going gets tough, raising money for both of these fantastic causes is what will keep us going collectively. Every single penny raised will be go towards both causes and split equally 50/50.  All donations really will be appreciated for which I thank you in advance. Neil.

After a full on weekend of running, today (Monday) was definitely a come down after yesterday's high. A 47 mile weekend was followed by just two very slow 5k runs today with the husky's to keep me going. In fact tonight's run was one of just about managing to put one foot in front of the other....feeling tired and heady that is for sure. Even talking to myself which I tend to do a lot, but this was different. In normal circumstances, it would have been a pointless exercise, but I am sure we are going to have many miles of feeling like that come the big effort on Sept 29th and more to the point without the help of my dogs....
