Hello all! :) Hope the start of your 2018 has been off to a fantastic start! As many of you know, running has been a passion of mine for many years! I ran cross country all four years of high school and recently ran my first half marathon last year! I had such a great experience with it that I have decided to run another one this coming April! I will be running the Mercy Health Glass City half marathon in Toledo, OH!
For my upcoming second half marathon, I decided I wanted to do things a little differently this time around. I wanted this run to mean something more than just crossing something off my bucket list. I wanted it to have a more meaningful purpose. A purpose that truly speaks to my heart. And that purpose is to run in memory of my beloved high school tutor + mentor-Mary Sue Hongosh. This amazing and brilliant woman was the light of my life and had the biggest heart I know. She helped me and so many other students through so much + supported me personally in so many moments when I doubted myself. She helped me become the person I am today and to this day, I am forever grateful + blessed to have known such a kind and humble woman like her.
So in her honor and memory, I am dedicating this run to her and so many others who have lost their battle to cancer. Specifically to Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) This disease is very rare and is an aggressive form of cancer. Not many people are aware of it and as of now-there is no known cure or manageable treatment for it. That is why I am starting this page to help raise money for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation!I am here to ask for donations to this cause in the search of finding a managable treatment or a possible cure. As well as helping those and their loved ones who have been affected by this disease.
My ultimate goal is to raise $1000 for this foundation in hopes of getting more funding for research on finding a treatment + cure. Even just a small donation still makes all the difference to me personally and to the foundation! Please help fight back against this awful form of cancer that has taken away too many good souls + lives and has affected many families and friends.
