Run for a Reason: Hurricane Harvey

I fell into running during my senior year of college, and now I see the potential impact it can have on personal health and well-being as well as on the greater community in the aftermath of the devastation brought upon Houston, my home, by Hurricane Harvey. Please help support my registration to the Houston Marathon, from which all proceeds will be donated to the Salvation Army.
I chose the Salvation Army based on its mission: to preach and restore hope through provisioning food services, emotional and spiritual care, emergency communications, disaster social services, donations management, and ultimately long-term recovery solutions. Salvation Army Houston is an entrusted local organization making great strides to lift our city out of its current state and support efforts of other first providers and relief efforts.
I am a first-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine and have spoken to affected citizens firsthand, overwhelmed by their stories and touched to make a difference. Short-term volunteer responses have been incredibly inspiring, yet ultimately long-term monetary support is crucial to ensure a sustainable recovery.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I HAVE ALREADY PLEDGED $635 AS PART OF THE RUN FOR A REASON PROGRAM. I need help getting there because I am only a medical student and currently making no money and eating frozen meals most days of the week:-)
