Rudolf Heirman's Surgery Recovery Fund

Rudolf Heirman has been in our lives as a warm, stalwart friend and community member for decades.  As long as we have all known Rudolf and his wife Janet, we have known them to live deeply in community in the most meaningful ways. Rudolf has been a Washington area builder for over 40 years and as you read this, many of you are looking around your home and remembering fondly the remodeling project he undertook with you. The community would call a particular quality of remodeled kitchen a "Rudolf Kitchen".  It meant a job beautifully crafted, completed on time, and still beautiful today.

Several months ago, Rudolf began having pain in his shoulders, arms, and wrists which was so constant and debilitating that it eventually rendered him unable to work.  He has been diagnosed with completely torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders, as well as damage to both wrists, which require surgical repair and months of physical therapy.    He had the first surgery on October 29th (left shoulder and wrist), and is scheduled for a second surgery in mid-January (right shoulder and wrist).  Recovery after the surgeries will take 4-6 months and during that time, Rudolf is unable to swing a hammer. He and Janet have been without his income for months.  

Our friends are facing a long road ahead, and I think we all know what a difference it can make to the healing process to know that your basic needs are being met.  Without that kind of security, pain and healing time can be so much worsened and lengthened.  Rudolf's recovery and rehab will take him and Janet into the late spring or early summer of 2020.  Rudolf remains hopeful and plans to make a full recovery and return to work.  I hope and pray we can help them as they have helped so many of us, in so many ways, through the years.
