Scholarship Funding

I am a Childbirth Educator. The web site for my business is: http://hoksiyuhaboti.com. It is my vision to assist in the development of a circle of birthworkers that will be located on the Rosebud (Sicangu) Reservation. These birthworkers would be native women, assisting native women. 

Statistically, Doulas help and support women who are pregnant to give birth to healthier babies, and assist in better health outcomes for women before/during pregnancy/and post-partum. Doulas also support the families of those who are pregnant and especially during birth of a new addition to that family.

Doulas are not Midwives. "A Doula is a professional who provides emotional, physical, and practical support for the expectant, laboring, or post-partum mother. She does not perform any medical tasks but actually complements the birth team (Gurevich, 6)". Doulas can offer practical ways to assist the laboring woman through the process of birth, giving advice to assist in the decision-making process.

The one huge hurdle for local women (on the Rosebud Reservation) who would like to become a Doula, is funding. I am asking for funding to assist their educational desire.
