Finley Rae Olson's Memorial Fund

Our daughter Finley's life was tragically taken from her at only 6 months old while in the care of her daycare provider. Finley Rae was born a beautiful, happy & healthy baby on July 7, 2015. She had the biggest eyes and longest eyelashes that everyone noticed immediately when they first saw her. We were overjoyed when we found out we were having a girl, having 3 nephews and a son already we were ready for another boy. Finley was the first granddaughter in the family so she was an even more special addition to our family. Finley loved to watch her big brother and everything he did and he loved to show off for her. They had made a special bond already and he misses her now, being only 3 he still does not understand why she is not coming home. Finley’s bright happy smile made everyone around her smile and she lit up the room. Our lives were fovever changed on January 13, 2016 when we received a call that an ambulance was called for our daughter. My husband & I rushed to Children's Hospital not knowing then that our daughter would never be coming home. Seeing her in the hospital connected to tubes, wires & machines was the most heartwrenching sight a parent could ever see. We learned than that the brain injury she had suffered was life threatening and 2 days later she passed away. The loss our family has had to endure is a pain that is indescribable and one that no parent should have to experience. We are struggling to find our way through our grief but at the same time we have to help our 3 year old son understand that his baby sister is never coming home. As parents you trust that the care you find for your children while you are at work is taking care of them the way you would and to have this happen to our baby girl is uncomprehensable.
We have had so many people reach out that want to help us, funds raised will be used to have a memorial for her, we want to do something in her memory. Finley is a HERO in our eyes and we want to have her memory and life sacrifice live on.
Through this horrific tragedy we have seen both ends of human kind. The outrage of family, friends, co-workers, church members, the community and strangers that this could happen to a baby has brought out a deep level of love and compassion towards us that we have never experienced before. We have truly been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and prayers that has been given to us. People have been bringing us meals, offering support, saying prayers and most of all showing us love. This level of kindness from so many people is what is helping us find our way through this senseless tragedy.

Our daughter will never be forgotten and she will always be with us. We thank everyone for keeping a special place for her in your hearts and she will always be remembered.
