Roxy Madison - Cancer Fund

Donation protected
After waiting a month in hospital for a diagnosis, it was determined that Roxy had an adult cancer – Primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma. The large tumor was 18 cm covering her heart and lung.  She also had two smaller tumors on her other lung and one on her spleen. And so, chemotherapy began in early April.  Her cancer is an aggressive form, one that’s extremely rare in children. With an aggressive cancer, the treatment has been aggressive. During her very first treatment, the chemo caused both her lungs to collapse and had her in a coma in the ICU for 15 days. At the same time, during that Easter weekend, Roxy lost her grandmother. She’s already undergone six week-long intense chemo treatments at Hamilton’s McMaster Children’s Hospital, and she still has a long difficult journey ahead. To the family, the travel to Hamilton seems endless. It is unknown at this point how much more chemo and radiation are required.

Her family (dad and mom, Paul and Lori; and her sister and brother, Mackenzie and Jack), have been with her all the way. Her mom stayed by her side 24/7. Many nights some or all of her family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton (thank you Ronald McDonald for your support). Roxanne has been a real trouper through all of this, often thinking of her family and the friends she’s made at the hospital more than herself. Roxy always went out of her way to make new students feel welcome at North Park Collegiate in Brantford. She never wanted anyone to be on their own. She brings that same caring nature to McMaster, even when it was hard for her to put on a smile herself.

The cancer has had an impact on everyone in the family, emotionally, physically and financially. Their close-knit family is struggling with every-day life activities. They’ve been trying to manage financially quietly on their own up until now. We’re asking for your support. As a community we need to come together and reduce their stress and worry by raising funds so this amazing family can focus all their strength on getting Roxy better. We hope your donations will also give them emotional support. We hope your donations will say: we love you, we care about you, and we wish you peace and hope in this difficult time.

All prayers welcome. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting them.
