Spay It Forward!

We are The Humane Society of Rowan County, an all-volunteer organization helping the animals in the Rowan County NC Area since 1973. We depend solely on donations from our community. We are not funded by the government or by The Humane Society of the United States. Our organization comes to the aid of sick or injured strays, advocates for the animals in our community, and offers a variety of services to our community.

Pet overpopulation is a crisis in America which affects every community. According to the ASPCA, each year approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized in shelters. Many of these in our own local shelter. It is not just a national problem; it is a community by community problem which we each can do our own part to change.

Every dollar donated to our Spay It Forward Fund will be matched up to $1,500.00. So your impact is doubled! The average female cat produces about 12 kittens per year and the average female dog produces about 6 puppies per year. When each one of those offspring multiplies, the figures become staggering very quickly. The cost of spaying one cat or dog is substantially less than the cost of one unwanted pregnancy.
