ROUND 2: HELP BRITT KNOCK OUT CANCER

Donation protected
Many friends and family have tuned in for Britts Journey Update through my sister, Rachel Edmondson's, FB account. Her wife Brittany Edmondson was diagnosed January 5th of 2017 with not only one but two types of breast cancer. One being an "invasive ductal carcinoma" known as IDC, which was found in her breast and had already spread into her lymph nodes under her arm. Her type of IDC cancer is aggressive and fast growing. The second was an "in situ" cancer also located in her breast. Initially she was diagnosed as having Stage II.

Brittany and Rachel agreed to take the most drastic measures to ensure they could get rid of the cancer and nearly eliminate any chances of it coming back. The doctors suggested a chemo treatment plan (AC/T) that entailed the harshest treatment there is available in hopes of stopping the growth and potential of it spreading any further. A combination of two types of chemo treatment was followed by another single chemo therapy and in the end totaled 16 rounds of chemo in 6 months.

The next steps were surgery upon the completion of chemo. Brittany opted for a full double mastectomy and removal of the infected lymph nodes when given the options. Rather than removing the tumors in a lumpectomy procedure she was willing to undergo a surgery to remove her breasts entirely to ensure absolutely everything was gone and to drastically lesson the odds of it returning. This decision alone shows Brittanys desire to fight and beat this terrible disease. They thought they had come all this way and could begin seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

Just days before the surgery they received word that testing showed there was more cancer than she had originally started with. What was two spots in the breast alone had become a few dozen. Though devastated and confused by the news, they moved forward with the surgery as they thought this was still the best option to get rid of it all. The surgery was completed July 24th. The doctors were pleased with the outcome and Brittany along with Rachel felt their decision was the most proactive measure they could take to ensure Brittanys well being despite the worrisome news they had just learned.

Just recently they received the post-op pathology report and were met with more devastating news. The chemo therapy had zero response to her cancer. Although they removed her breasts and infected lymph nodes, the cancer had already spread elsewhere in her body and is now considered Stage III. Our family is absolutely devastated, confused, terrified, and in utter shock. With all the options presented my sister and her wife chose the most aggressive plan provided.

With Britt's journeys end in sight just weeks ago to now being set back to square one, she and Rachel have much more ahead of them than was ever expected. They've managed for 8 months now with their income nearly cut in half but as of recent they are struggling to keep up financially and with this news they have reached a point of despair that has left no other option but to reach out for help/assistance. Brittany has been and will be out of work for quite some time. With daily living expenses and medical bills it's become more than they can handle. If you can assist in any way, I know they will greatly appreciate anything you can offer. No matter how little it will help tremendously. If you're unable to help financially please share this page and continue to pray for Brittany and our family as she gears up to continue this fight. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
