Rosie's Helmet Treatment

Donation protected
Hi everyone, as most people know our gorgeous little Rosie has had a tough time. She was diagnosed with Heterotaxy left isomerism at our 20 week scan. This has caused her stomach and liver to form on the wrong side, she is asplenic which means she has no spleen and is more prone to infections and is on antibiotics for life for this. She also has an interrupted inferior vena cava in her heart, which is part of the reason Rosie was born by emergency C-Section 6 weeks early.

Rosie was born weighing a tiny 3lb 9 and due to her being premature she spent nearly 5 weeks in special care and a lot of that time in an incubator. This meant she spent a lot of the time on one side, causing her head to become flat on one side.

Recently Rosie was diagnosed with severe Plagiocephaly and brachycephaly. We are now at the stage were the whole right side of Rosie’s head is being pushed forward, it has started to effect her eye, ear, forehead and jaw. It is also effecting Rosie’s neck and her ability to move her head to the left. We have now been told by specialist clinicians that Rosie needs helmet treatment ASAP and without this she will be left with permanent deformities to her face and neck.

Unfortunately, this treatment is not funded by the NHS and can cost up to £2,500. The treatment will involve Rosie wearing a specially made to fit helmet 23 hours a day for 6 months, which will relieve the pressure from the right side of her head and try and push it back into place.

We are not only raising money for Rosie, we want to raise awareness for this condition, especially in premature babies and we also want to raise as much money as possible for other babies with the same condition. We are so lucky to have amazing family and friends who can help and we still cannot afford this, so we know there are definitely other families out there struggling and the NHS will not help! Please help us help them and also get our little Rosie pudding the treatment she needs. Any extra money we raise will be going to a special charity called HeadStart4Babies, who help families on low income with funding for this treatment if they can.

Thank you all so so much! We would never be able to tell you how much we appreciate all of your support xxx
